THE ARIZONA REPUBLIC: Air-traffic controllers, FAA fight
Thursday, October 13, 2005
The Republic reports, "Air-traffic controllers and the federal agency that employs them are waging a public-relations fight across the country, including in Phoenix, over staffing shortages, outdated equipment and their effects on passenger safety... 'I wouldn't say it's a dangerous (situation),' said Kevin Van Uden, president of Phoenix Terminal Radar Approach Control, or TRACON. 'But it's inherent that old equipment is going to break down.'"
