Howard Blankenship is serving his first term as Central Regional Vice President for the National Air Traffic Controllers Association. Howard began his air traffic control career at Kansas City Air Route Traffic Control Center. He has worked as a traffic management coordinator at Kansas City and at the Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC). While at the ATCSCC, Howard also performed staff specialist duties. 

Howard previously held the position of facility representative for nearly eight years at Kansas City Center. Prior to that, he served on the local NATCA executive board as secretary and vice president.  Howard was locally active in the campaign to recognize and certify NATCA as the bargaining unit representative for air traffic controllers. 

Before his ATC career, Howard served four years in the United States Air Force, as a radar operator at Hancock Field in New York and at King Salmon Air Force Base in Alaska. 

Howard has completed extensive training in arbitration, federal labor relations and legislative relations. He also has an associates degree in liberal arts from Johnson County Community College. 

Howard lives with his wife and three sons in Olathe, Kan.
